Sometimes your face needs a good scrubbing to get rid of all the dead skin cells. Since my skin is quite sensitive, I usually try a bunch of DIY scrubs with all natural ingredients; but, sometimes you just want something that’ll do the job quickly and easily.

I’ve decided to try the Aloe Gentle Exfoliator, which you can purchase at The Body Shop.

In the product description, it says that this scrub will lift away dull skin and leave your skin clean and refreshed. The entire Body Shop Aloe range is fragrance-free and alcohol-free, which makes it great for people with a sensitive skin.

I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now and it doesn’t irritate my skin, so I’m really happy about that.

The scrub comes in a 75 ml white and green tube. You’ll have to squeeze the scrub out of it. The scrub itself is mild and creamy. You can’t even see the scrub particles, but you’ll feel it once you start massaging your face.

Like I said, it’s fragrance free and if you sniff the scrub you’ll only smell all the raw ingredients. I’m not keen on this particular smell, but it’s not like it lingers on your face or anything. So I’m okay with that.

The scrub also does what it promises! Dead skin disappears and my face feels nice and soft after each use. It doesn’t really get the dirt out of your pores or anything. This scrub is just too mild for that. I’m still happy with the results since I only wanted a scrub that gets rid of all the dead skin cells.

Remember to only scrub your face once or twice a week. I’ve heard that you can seriously damage your skin by scrubbing too often or even by using too much pressure. Take your time and gently massage your face.

Once all your nasty dead skin is scrubbed away, any other facial/acne/wrinkle cream will be able to penetrate the skin more easily.

DIY Scrub

You can also always make your own facial scrub. It’s fun to do when you have the time, and it’s great for a lazy Sunday spa session at home.

A scrub is fairly easy to make. I’m sure most of us have mixed honey and sugar at some point in our lives. If not, then try it. It’s not only great for your face, but also for the lips! It will make them nice and smooth again.

Most of the time, honey will be your main ingredient since it is sticky and keeps all the other ingredients together. But honey also works great as an exfoliator and moisturizer (raw or organic honey gives the best results)!

I like to mix honey with rice flour or green tea. Rice flour is something you’ll probably have to purchase, but it’s worth the effort. Rice flour helps to protect your skin from sun damage, wrinkles, and it can brighten your complexion. Green tea is probably easier to get by. You can brew loose leaf green tea or simply cut open a tea bag and mix the tea leaves with honey. Green tea is a great antioxidant.

Two teaspoons of everything should be enough.

Have fun.

Love, Izzy
