To eat is one of my favorite hobbies. To eat healthier is my all time favorite resolution. I just struggle with combining the two. But not at CROP!
CROP is a cool green-food-café in Utrecht that serves fresh and healthy food. One of my friends told me about this place so we decided to check it out.
The white walls, the green plants, and the wooden tables and chairs really make the place look like a garden. At the same time, it’s the ideal setting for taking photos. We had an early lunch so we skipped the lunch rush madness. When we left, a bunch of people were sitting outside enjoying their food and the lovely weather.
I already said that CROP serves healthy food but that also includes drinks. I’ve spotted a juicer in their kitchen! They have a few juice specials on the menu. One of them is called Purple Power. It’s a red cabbage, apple and ginger juice. It sounds delicious, but we weren’t feeling that adventurous that day.
One of us did try the apple and carrot juice. I know that it’s tasty since I also have a juicer at home. Apple, carrot and celery is my favorite juice recipe.
The cool thing about CROP is that you can make your own salad. You pick the size (small or big), dressing, toppings and a couple of veggies.
I had a small salad with spelt pasta, pulled chicken, apple, cucumber, nuts and a honey mustard sauce. My mom will be proud to hear that I finished it all. It was so tasty. Honestly, you can never go wrong with the combination that I picked! Unless you’re allergic to apples.. or nuts.. Well, there are plenty of other toppings to choose from if you are.
I love going out to cafés to eat amazing food and chat with friends. But if it’s not your scene and you would still like a juice or a salad, then you can also come in and order a take away meal.
Don’t be under the impression that CROP only sells salad and juice. They also have things like yogurt, sandwiches, soup, pastry, wine and coffee. Next time I’m coming in for coffee and cake. Oops, wasn’t I supposed to eat healthier haha.
