The last time I was in Paris, I was 17, covered in spots (so all the pictures are banned from viewing), and accompanied by a bunch of teachers since it was a school trip. We had a lot of fun, but at the same time I have this feeling that I didn’t really appreciate the city at that time. You look at everything the teacher points out but at the same time it’s not “cool” to like the stuff that the teacher likes, you know.. The only thing we really wanted to do is see Taylor Lautner, who was in Paris at the time. Teenagers..
Now that I’m older, I want to revisit Paris and really look at it, admire the architecture and discover its culture.
This time I’ll be accompanied by a very good friend of mine who shares my passion for food, books, culture and lipsticks haha. So I’m sure that we will have a lot of fun!
Obviously we couldn’t just sit around and wait until it’s time to go. We had to compile a list of things that we would like to do in Paris.
Things to do in Paris
See le mur des je t’aime (The Wall of Love).
Ever wanted to know how to say I love you in 250 different languages. Well, you can see that on this wall. I can say I love you in Dutch, English, French, German, Korean, Japanese, and Russian. And you?
See the Palace of Versailles
Like many of us, ladies, I
want wanted to be a princess and this palace looks fit for a princess. The palace is -quotes official website- one of the most beautiful achievements of 18th-century French art, which I’ve only seen in pictures. Naturally, I would like to see it with my own eyes and wander its gardens while waving like the Queen of England.
Visit the Shakespeare & Co. bookstore
I’m a book nerd. Do I need to say more?
We ARE going to Disneyland. That’s the only thing on this list that we’re certain of. The last time I visited Disneyland, I was 8 or something. I remember the Disney Christmas Parade, the teacups ride, that I bought a Marie (character from The Aristocats) plush, but that’s about it.
One thing that I clearly remember is that it started snowing during the parade. I thought it was super magical, but then my parents told me that it was fake snow and burst the magical bubble… In my memory IT’S REAL!
So I guess we need to make some new
Go to the Tracadero to take amazing pics of the Eiffel Tower
When in Paris, take a picture of the Eiffel Tower. Of course. And make sure that the tour guide doesn’t leave without you like happened to Grace (Selena Gomez) in Monte Carlo. That movie is kind of a guilty pleasure.
I climbed the Eiffel Tower before so I don’t really feel the need to do that again (-whispers- fear of heights…)
Eat cake and buy macarons at Ladurée
Ladurée looks like such a cute bakery!! Everyone who loves sweets and luxury says that you have to order something at Ladurée and bring a few macarons back home. So that’s the plan.
I have a list of things that I’d like to buy that we don’t have in the Netherlands. And I’m sure that some of my friends will give me their list as well haha. Sephora is always a place were we stop by.
I really hope that we can do all of these things. If not, then we will have to visit again haha.
Have you ever been to Paris? What is your favorite tourist attraction or place to visit?
