By now you all must know that I adore MAC lipsticks, but I’ve never fallen in love with any of the limited edition lipsticks until Giambattista Valli came around.
I’ve heard that limited edition stuff sell out in less than 10 minutes so I was prepared to sit at my desk and wait for the email announcement early in the morning on September 12th. (That’s still the official release date here in the Netherlands.)
So, on August 27th I’m lounging around in my pajama, watching TLC. I pick up my phone, open Twitter and I see a tweet saying MAC Giambattista Valli – Online Pre-Launch. Order now.
I let out a roar (mid sentence. You should have seen my mom’s face) and run upstairs to turn on my computer, but then I don’t see Giambattista Valli anywhere! I pick up my phone again and click on the link in the tweet that directs me to MAC‘s mobile website. And it turns out that you can only order all the new stuff from your phone!
That was the story of how I became the proud owner of Eugenie and Tats. You have no idea how happy I was that day. Mainly because people kept telling me that I wouldn’t be able to get my hands on them.
I love this packaging so much. At least I’ll be able to quickly recognize these two.
I was late for class the other day, but I had to wear lipstick (duh). So I was hoping to find Twig quickly, but I really didn’t have the time to pick them all up one by one and look at the label. So, no lipstick.
I simply adore Eugenie! It’s a deepened, purpled wine with cool undertones and a (semi) matte finish. I can’t help but stare at myself while I’m wearing it.
I’ve read a couple of reviews while I was waiting for these babies to be released, and a lot of people seemed to be disappointed with the consistency of Eugenie. Some reviews claimed that it didn’t have an even coverage and that it had this tendency to pull into lip lines.
Yes this shade does emphasized the natural texture of the lips, so you’ll be able to see all your lip lines after applying Eugenie. But that’s something that happens with a lot of dark matte lipsticks so I don’t see that as a huge problem.
To my big surprise, I had no problems with the coverage. I was able to apply Eugenie very smoothly and evenly. I did use concealer to clean up the rough edges on my lower lip. Eventually it lasted for more than 6 hours. It did start to feel a bit drying towards the end though, but this gorgeous color is so worth it.
This is hands down my favorite shade from this collection.
Do you really need another pink lipstick? It’s fuchsia! I don’t have a bright fuchsia lipstick yet! So yes I need it. (Don’t forget that little talk we had about the difference in color, texture and coverage)
This shade looks so pretty and girly haha. I love it.
Tats is a matte lipstick. It has an opaque coverage and it goes on very smoothly. Like Eugenie, Tats also has this tendency to pull into lip lines. Now I wonder whether this entire collection is like that? If you’re not a fan of this, you might need to look into it before you purchase a lipstick from this collection.
Tats is longwearing. You should be able to wear it up to 6 hours. I wore it a couple of times already and it didn’t bleed, so that’s great. (Neither did Eugenie, by the way.)
I didn’t think that Tats was drying at first, but after a couple of hours my lips did start to feel a little bit dry. It also left behind a stain after I removed it, but that’s something that I do like.
What’s your favorite shade from this collection?
