Sephora is sort of a magical place, mainly because we don’t have one in the Netherlands. We had a Sephora in Utrecht for a little while, but then it disappeared. I didn’t like that magic trick very much.

So I purchased a few Sephora goodies while I was in Paris and this Color Lip Last lipstick in N°22 Burgundy Spirit was one of them.

Burgundy is a great color for fall. That’s why I waited a while before posting this review.

This makes me a hypocrite though. I keep saying that it doesn’t matter what color lipstick you wear in summer or fall or winter, but here I am labeling burgundy as a fall color.

Wear whatever you want, whenever you want it.

Color Lip Last

The packaging looks very sleek and it’s very sturdy. You’ll find the color indicator at the top, which is very handy since you’ll able to see what color it is right away.

It’s a matte lipstick, but the texture is a little bit different compared to (let’s say) MAC. It feels really dry. It’s a bit difficult to apply because of this; but the coverage is even. If you’re struggling with the application, you might want to apply this lipstick on top of a lip balm. Or you can always use a lip brush. I guess I should add that this lipstick is also rather drying on the lips. I wear a lot of drying lipsticks so I’m kind of used to it by now, but lots of people don’t like it.

On the other hand, it’s long lasting. That’s the beauty of matte lipsticks. This baby stayed on my lips during the entire day! No joke. That’s amazing.

N°22 Burgundy Spirit also has this strong sweet candy smell that reminds me of Wonka Original Spree candy. I love those so I like the fragrance. I do have a problem with the fact that it did bleed a little. Mainly on the lower lip. Next time I’ll have to apply concealer below the lip. Easy fix.

So, this lipstick has its flaws, but they are fixable. I like the color and it’s long lasting. That’s what I’m looking for in a lipstick and I got it.

I have to tell you guys that I’m not going to post lipstick reviews for a while. I need to stop buying them and simply wear the ones that I already own. Lately, I’ve been wearing a different shade each day. People have started to think that it’s my new trademark haha. Ah well, we’ll see how it all works out. I still want to purchase a dark blue lipstick… (any recommendations?)

Love, Izzy
