We laugh at memes that tell us to go take a nap when we’re stressed, but sometimes that’s really the best thing we can do to put our minds at ease.

When I’m stressed out, my mind goes completely haywire. It starts telling me that I have to do the million things that I haven’t done yet right away and all at the same time. Otherwise, I won’t get it all done on time.

That’s the moment that I just step away and simply breath.

It’s time to put it all away and do something to relax.

6 Things To Do When You're Burned Out

6 Things To Do When You’re Burned Out

Pamper Yourself

You can go to a spa and have a massage, but you can also organize an at home spa session.

Pull out your Lush bath bombs, apply a facial mask and relax. No bath? That’s alright. Position yourself in a comfy chair and soak your feet in a warming footbath! You can even have a pedicure after that.

I like to do my nails, hair and makeup whenever I’m having a pamper day. I might not even leave the house, but I always feel reborn and very relaxed at the end of the day.

Read a Book or Watch a Movie

Books can take us away from reality for a while. You’ll realize that some book characters have a pretty miserable life compared to yours. Be happy that you’re not Katniss Everdeen (although I wouldn’t really mind… I mean, Peeta is the perfect boyfriend).

Whenever I feel down, I tend to watch an animated movie. Tangled, The Croods, Despicable Me, they all cheer me up. Try to find a movie that does that for you and watch it whenever you’re stressed or feeling blue.

We all need a lot of little comfort food once in a while. But instead of just going to the store, bake something yourself.

I always bake brownies or chocolate cookies whenever I need a pick me up. Anything that has chocolate in it will do the trick, to be honest. I even ate Nutella with a spoon a couple of times. Bring on the calories #sorrynotsorry.

Call a Friend and Go Do Something Fun

Go shopping, go out for coffee or go out to lunch. Anything will do. Whine about the stuff you still have to do and wait for your friend to start making “Ah well, if it doesn’t work out, we can always become strippers” jokes.

Do Something Creative or Destructive

I’ve notices that whenever I’m stressed out, I start making collages. I covered my entire closet door with a bunch of pictures of movie stars, musicians, food pictures, travel pictures and so on.

After that I bought a Wreck this Journal and started making collages in there. Now I also have a writing prompts book and a bunch of video games where you need to shoot zombies. They do take your mind of things haha.

And you can always scream into your pillow if you need to.

Exercise (no extra fries)

I started doing yoga a couple of weeks ago, and I must say that it’s the most relaxing thing ever. We meditate, we stretch, and we lie on the floor haha. I always feel so mellow after.

Don’t be tough on yourself whenever you’re burned out. Relax and then prioritize. Make a list of things you really need to do and things that can wait. You’re human, not a machine. Cry if you need to. Let it all out, but make sure you put yourself back together and continue along a path that you’re comfortable with.

Love, Izzy
