We are slowly approaching my one year blogiversary and I don’t believe that I ever talked about why I started blogging or were I think I’m heading. I’ve mentioned it on Twitter, but never on my blog.
I’ve been tagged by the lovely Ren from Ms Mistry Blogs. This tag gives me the perfect opportunity to elaborate on my blogging journey.
Make sure to also check out Ren’s answers. She’s awesome!
Tag, You’re It! (The Blogger Interview Tag)
How did you get into blogging.
I always thought that blogging would be a fun hobby to have, but something kept me back. I guess I was a little afraid. It’s scary to actually get that domain name and just write whatever you like.
Then a friend of mine started a blog and she asked me if I wanted to guest post for a whole month. I said yes and fell in love with blogging. After that I told my dad that I wanted to start blogging and he got me this domain. That was so sweet.
And here we are. Nine months later. Still blogging.
What advice would you give to a blogger just starting out?
JUST DO IT! Some people keep saying that you need to have a niche, your blog needs to look clean, your pictures have to be perfect, you need to know SEO. Yes, you need to think about these things, but I kind of feel like you pick up most of it along the way.
Experiment a little. Get to know the blogging community (Twitter is awesome for that). Learn. You’ll figure out what works best for you.
Have a little fun with it.
What would be your dream campaign?
I would love to collab with a beauty brand. I love Clinique, I love MAC. I’m no makeup expert, but I’m still a girl who likes to learn and try out new makeup trends. I would also love to interview people (restaurant owners, fellow bloggers, youtubers, celebrities, you name it). It’s something I’ve thought about, but I’m not sure how to put something like this into motion yet.
Do you have a plan for your blog?
Hahaha sorry, I had to put this in.
No, I don’t really have a plan. I just want to produce content that makes me happy. I’m simply enjoying the ride. Although I do have a few series.
I unconsciously started a 6-Things series. It’s well-received and I love writing it. So that’s something that will keep coming back, I hope.
What do you think about rankings?
Lots of bloggers have goals. They want to reach a certain amount of followers or views. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. I guess it’s healthy competition for some. I personally don’t want to be consumed by the thirst for followers. It’s something that I worried too much about during my first few months of blogging, and I didn’t really like it. It’s always nice to get a new follower, don’t get me wrong, but it’s not my objection to become a “big blogger”.
Some bloggers do want to become big so I understand that they do want to be ranked high. They work hard for it. That’s why I don’t think there’s anything wrong with rankings. It’s all about your own goals and dreams.
